Financial Aid

Housing fees are considered part of your overall cost of college attendance. If your financial aid credits exceed your tuition and other academic fees, the remaining aid may be used towards housing.

If aid does not cover the entire semester housing cost, residents are responsible for paying the out-of-pocket balance directly to The Towers. Please remember financial aid will not be directly disbursed to the Towers; each resident must obtain a refund from their college to pay The Towers directly.

If you wish to use your financial aid towards housing cost at The Towers, please follow these steps:

Submit documentation of anticipated financial aid via the information from CUNYfirst, your academic institution’s Financial Aid Office and/or the lending institution.
Documentation will be reviewed by the Office of Housing and Residence Life.
Housing and Residence Life will confirm your deferment status in writing.

Requests for deferment are due by August 1st for the Fall semester. Spring semester requests are due by January 1st.

FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid)

To apply for federal student aid, such as federal grants, work-study, and loans, you need to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) each year. Completing and submitting the FAFSA is free. Many states and colleges use your FAFSA to determine eligibility for state and school aid, and some private financial aid providers may use your FAFSA information to determine whether you qualify for their aid.

Please remember the FAFSA must be completed every academic year a student is interested in federal financial aid. The FAFSA becomes available October 1 for the following academic year. It is recommended you complete the FAFSA early to receive the best financial aid offer available to you. Learn more about the FAFSA here.
